Delicious and delightful for an airport restaurant. Of course you're going to pay a premium but if you have the time to stay during a layover, it's totally worth it. Been here twice now and ordered the Farmhouse Salad with salmon - honey walnut vinaigrette, radishes, beets, goat cheese, and the most tender, perfectly seasoned salmon filet with a crisp crust. Great service during my first visit (lunch) when I asked for Earl Grey tea to soothe a sore throat and staff was attentive despite the rush. Second visit during dinner my waiter was all right but seemed distracted. American Mule has Tito's and that's never a bad thing.
No help here at all. The staff is in another land mentally. They do not care at all about customers. Let this place go under so another company with decent management can come in and hire competent staff that actually want to work.
Had the Dirty Mac and Cheese and a Lenny Boy Brown Ale. Pork Belly, caramelized onions, cheese sauce, and pasta. Hugely rich and delicious, and the beer was just enough to cut through it. Food and beer get a 5. Food delivery went a bit long (20 minutes), but had plenty of time. Service 3 because of the kitchen. Overall 5. It was just that good.
Good food and lots of room to sit and dine. Had a burger with an egg in it and a goose island IPA they both went good together. Prices are a bit high but then again things cost a little more in airports. Came here for dinner and had to wait about 5 minutes to be seated on a Thursday night. Friendly service.
Located at the Charlotte NC airport...my 1st time...I asked if they served espresso, it was illy brand...however, they don't seem to know what they are doing, the presentation was splattered espresso in and out of the cup, along with it being just lukewarm. I wish I could add the photo... I ordered a mushroom and spinach omelet that was very nice. Well prepared, light and with good taste. The home style potatoes were seasoned well, but were not warm.
Actually good food in the airport. Prices are not terrible either. I get breakfast here whenever I fly. I've also had their burgers and that's good too.
A solid locally sourced food option that is worth the trip. The dirty Mac and Brussels were the highlights. Shrimp and grits were ok but way few shrimp and not so flavorful grits. Still and all? Worth the time and money. Solid food and warm welcoming service.
Decent place to sit and have a meal before a flight. Much better than the stuff you get on a plane.
Good food, lots of beer selections. Buffalo sauce was awesome. Being in an airport it was slightly higher priced, but a nice break during our layover here. Would definitely stop here again.
Nice place and convenient. The physical look of the leather bound menu is pleasing to the eye. Service was fast and efficient while still being personable and friendly. The French 75 was refreshing. I ordered the BBQ shrimp and grits that had great flavor but the shrimp were extremely overcooked and rubbery.
Outstanding food. Great service. Food is worth every penny. Make sure you have a layover of at least an hour and a half so you can enjoy the food in the activity.
It's at the airport so it is a higher price. Get over it.We arrived around 630am. Ken was running the frittata / pizza line. Ken gets 10 out of 5 stars for service. Food was hot and fresh!!If you're going to be in the Charlotte Airport, hit this place up.
NoDa Hop Drop & Roll was excellent, server was sweet but inattentive. Don’t recommend the pizza. REALLY bad music choices guys. I do appreciate that they have chargers by the tables, and it wasn’t as crazy crowded as some airport restaurants get.
As a frequent traveler, this is the CLT standout. There's nowhere better to sit down for any meal.
The Market Grits paired perfect with a nice sized mimosa to make a breakfast worth flying back for.The grits had a subtle, yet flavorful cheddar taste and were a great consistency. These are good grits. The sausage had a hint of spice and great consistency, a perfect combination with the grits. Perfectly cooked sunny side up egg.The biscuit was huge and made just right. Delicious!
After reading some of the reviews here I was hesitant to give 1897 Market a chance. I'm happy to report no issues during my hour-long visit. I ordered the Bronx Bomber, a pizza, with pepperoni, mozzarella, and tomato sauce cooked in a Woodstone pizza oven paired with a Napoleon Complex American Pale Ale by Wicked Weed Brewing Co. My order was ready relatively quickly considering the airport was fairly busy. The pizza was cooked perfectly and piping hot! This gave me some time to enjoy my beer of course. On the topic of beer, 1897 has a very impressive selection of local, imports and mass-produced beers. Back to the pizza! In a word, delicious. This is not some frozen or chain pizza. Thin crust, perfectly sauced and plenty of cheesy goodness. One of the better airport restaurants I've dined in for sure and I will be back. As always, if you found my review helpful please take a moment and hit the 👍 Thanks. Tripswithjake.com
Great drinking and eating hole in the Charlotte airport. The place is bigger than it looks so if there's a wait, it isn't long. The Dirty Mac n cheese was great. The turkey sandwich was good too. They have a good selection of wine and beer. I'll definitely hang out here in my next layover. My waitress was so nice! Had a bad cocktail, she immediately got another drink for me. Couldn't have asked for better service!
I have only eaten here for breakfast. I have never been disappointed with their breakfast. I usually get an omelette and substitute the home fries that come with it for grilled tomatoes. They have decent coffee. The service is always courteous, but sometimes it takes a little long. Prices are right, especially for an airport. The restaurant is large and nicely decorated, with an area to grab food to go, and a small market.
Fantastic little spot. 1897 Market is a deli/cafe type restaurant, they have a nice variety of deli foods from brick oven pizzas, sandwiches, salads, coffee, desserts and more. I had their cobb salad which was fresh, and delicious. The ingredients were of high caliber and not cheaper deli meats you sometimes find. The service is awesome. They're extremely quick and efficient, and the staff are very friendly and polite. The restaurant itself is centrally located in CLT with easy access from all terminals. It has a clean, open and airy feel to it but does tend to get busy during peak times, though there is plenty of tables, hightop and bar style seating available. It always feels a bit pricey, but which airport store/deli/restaurant doesn't? Regardless, this wasn't my first visit and won't be my last. The food is great, awesome service, and very convenient.
If you're not a fast food enthusiast while traveling or have enough time in between flights to sit down and enjoy your food, 1897 Market is a great option at CLT. Cozy environment with silent TVs in every corner so you can catch your game or the latest news; good, real food, like a turkey breast sandwich on sourdough bread; and a cute market place option make this a great stop. Tip: put your credit card out when you order and they'll bring your ticket with your food. Pay when you eat and leave when you need to avoid the wait...this place gets busy!
Was seated quickly even though there was a crowd. Food and drink were both good. I had a pepperoni puzza which was good ...... cant say great, but it is a restaurant in a busy airport. Service was respectable with all of the people and constant turnover. They seemed to be aware of people's need to catch the next flight. I'd definitely go back again when passing thru the airport.
Decent experience at 1897 Market but not enough for me to return. Server was kind and attentive which was a departure from the rudeness we encountered at the host stand. The crispy Brussels sprouts were fairly well balanced with a balsamic dressing but probably could have benefited from a few minutes less on the grill. The pressed pulled pork sandwich had some potential but was fairly dry. The kids pizza surprisingly was not too bad.
Service was very good considering it is a busy airport restaurant. The food came out fairly quickly and was pretty good. The brussel sprouts were very good. So in all a descent meal for an airport restaurant.
My first time in Charlotte NC airport so I had asked someone for a recommendation. They sent me here. Staff was super nice. Food was really good. I got a Charlotte burger with fries. It was delicious and very reasonably priced. I say that because most airport restaurants tend to be pricey, but this was just like going somewhere in my local area. That being said there happened to be something on my chair on the back rest and it got on my shirt. The staff was so nice about it and cleaned it off for me since I could not reach. The woman who seated was also super nice. I would definitely go hear again through my travels.
I really like this place. I've been in a lot of airports and this doesn't feel at all like airport food. Great bar, very nice healthy options menu. Flatbreads are great, salmon fantastic. The staff is super friendly! Kelly at the bar is the epitome of fantastic service!!
Sat at a table and ordered. Moved to a booth that was more comfortable as I am disabled and was accused by the server in that area of stealing money from his family because he won’t get tipped. Offered him 5$ but that did nothing. Ended up being chased out. Hard pass in the future.
Awesome place! The classic breakfast brings your energy back after one-night layovers.
We looked all over the airport for the best place to sit down and eat. We finally settled on this place and it was a great choice. Tons of good options on the menu and there’s seating in the back that feels cozy. They also have TVs everywhere if you want to watch a game but they aren’t too big to be annoying if you’re not trying to watch. Their honey vinaigrette salad dressing was excellent and made the salad I had the best thing we ordered
Stopped in her with my wife on our way back from Jamaica. Literally a diamond in the rough! Best burger and fries I've had in a long time. The salad was awesome too. Wish we had food like this at our airport in Columbus. Lol. Highly recommend!
Convenient location between terminals A and B. Food was OK. Menu limited.
The decor is nice. And the ac was working fantastic in there compared to the rest of the airport. I had the Neese Country Burger with fries and it was delicious. Just the right amount of food. It could have been hotter but I watched it sit for a long time while my server was gone. The hostesses were friendly. The server was nice but she disappeared for long periods of time. I would go back for the food if you have time to waste.
Good wood fired pizza, sweet and spicy market wings & tasty parmesan fries! Fun market with local grub/fare to go. Friendly and efficient services/staff.
I constantly come getting some food in here. I loved the rapid customer service and well cooked dishes. They never disappoint.
Salmon salad was great; fresh salad and salmon well prepared. Shrimp and Grits were creamy and delicious. Brussel sprouts were crispy and sweet
Mushroom flatbread was really good, but the salmon in the salmon salad was almost raw. Good service, good ambience. Will visit again.
It is a real restaurant that happens to be in an airport. Nice retreat from the hustle and bustle of the terminal. Service is the best I have had in any airport restaurant. The food was great.
Was at the bar and ordered a beer and water, never got the water. Also ordered a pizza and the one they brought had a half burnt crust. The second one was not delivered in time and i had to leave so they sent me over to the togo area. Finally after boarding my plane i went to eat and it was as burnt as the first ordered 45 minutes before.
This is my favorite place to eat at Charlotte airport. The Swiss Mushroom burger is perfect! The prices are in line with any US airport and why not sit down to enjoy a hot meal for the same price as a cold takeaway sandwich. The service is always friendly and efficient. They also have a very nice bar area.
Arguably the best place to eat and drink in the airport during a long layover. Particularly impressed by their draft list. They have regular domestic beers paired with local craft options like NoDa. Service is pretty fast and there are plenty of chargers for your phones and laptops.
Nice modern decor; for an airport, the environment is pretty relaxing and the spacing with other customers is great! My server (Alyssa) was prompt and checked on me at the right times, but not too often. I had the Charlotte Burger, with the veggies. The burger was fresh, the taste was ok, but veggies turned out to be Brussels sprouts (which were not great). I will probably try this place again, but will order something different. The quality seemed good, but the taste was marginal. 3.5 average rating is fair, I but I am offering a 4, because my server was fantastic!
Drinks are expensive but that's typical at airports. The food is tasty and the service is A1! I thoroughly enjoyed my morning pick me up.
As far as airport food goes, this place isn't bad. I got Neese's country burger with a side salad. Since it had sausage in it, you couldn't choose how you wanted it cooked. It ended up being pretty good and flavorful. My biggest complaint is that the service was really bad. It was really slow which isn't ideal for the airport. My server never came by to refill my water and after I was done eating I couldn't find anyone for quite a while to ask for my check. All in all, if you have enough time, this is a good place to stop for a bite to eat at the airport.
I really enjoyed the food here, it's seasonal and really nice for an airport, the atmosphere reminds me of a rustic farmhouse chique, yet it feels cozy. The staff were very accommodating and attentive. I personally ordered the salmon farmhouse which tasted incredible, the creamy and rich goat cheese complimented the nutty, sweet honey walnut vinaigrette; the salmon was cooked beautifully. Despite the food and service being excellent, I found that the price was very expensive. That is expected, given it is in the airport, but the salad that I ordered was a whopping $20. Overall 1897 Market is an excellent choice for modern, seasonal eating.
